about

New Zealand dub/funk band The Black Seeds exceeded all expectations with their debut album “Keep On Pushing” in 2001 and following the release, the master tapes were let loose, flipped upside down and turned inside out by some of New Zealand's top dub and electronic producers.

“Pushed” features stand out tracks from “Keep On Pushing” remixed and remade into tasty new flavours ranging from deep dancefloor dubs to upbeat hip-hop, retro jazz, offbeat electronica, ambient soundscapes and storming drum & bass by the likes of LOOP label mates 50Hz and Rhian Sheehan, The Nomad, Jet Jaguar, son.sine, DLT and Pylonz, and a handful of up-and-coming artists and new faces.

It also features several undercover members of The Black Seeds, including frontman Barnaby Weir who delivers a little sneaky dancehall business under the name of “Flash Harry” and past Seeds members Shannon Williams and Bret McKenzie doing the business under as 100 Plastic Knives vs The Video Kid.
